Early Days of Nordic Skiing in the Wood River Valley

Saturday, February 3, 2024

The Harriman Trail that the Boulder Mountain Tour follows today flows through Prairie Creek, which was the site of the first cross country trail groomed by the U.S. Forest Service in the United States.

We thought it would be fun for viewers to learn about the early days of cross-country skiing in the valley. Watch as Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick sits down with Frank Rowland, a retired forest ranger who was there when so much of it was happening, in today’s video.
