Jodie Stejer likes to say that she creates art with fire. And, indeed she uses a torch to fuse together layers of beeswax, resin and pigment to create her magnanimous encaustics inspired by emotions. You can see this artist, who grew up in Corvallis, Ore., and played volleyball at Whitworth University, at work in her Ketchum studio during Friday and Saturday’s annual Artist of the Wood River Valley Studio Tour. And you can get a sneak preview in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.
The free Artist Studio Tour of the Wood River Valley will feature 40 artists from Sun Valley to Bellevue who will open up their studios from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24. Pick up free maps at the Ketchum Visitor Center, the Hailey Welcome Center and at the Sun Valley Garden Center in Bellevue. Or, click on the Artist Studio Tour ad in Eye on Sun Valley to see all the artists' locations.
