Over the years Ketchum’s Big Hitch parade has featured everything from the Budweiser Clydesdales to chickens pretending to pull an 80-ish year-old farmer behind his makeshift wagon.
One of the treats for years was watching 20 determined mules pull the Big Hitch ore wagons, doing their “dance of the mules” as they stepped across the chain that they were hooked to as they made the turn from Sun Valley Road onto Main Street.
Unfortunately, Bishop, Calif.’s Bobby Tanner mulejerker passed away last year, taking the secrets of driving the 20-Mule Borax team with him. But Eye on Sun Valley was fortunate to be able to film one of his practices before he passed.
