Calling all Westies—and their very proud owners
Westie owners are having their annual Westie reunion and potluck for their very special dogs at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Hulen Meadows Park.
The reunion is an opportunity for the soccer-sized snowball-like dogs to roll around on the ground with those of their kind while their proud parents talk about how cute and intelligent the breed is. The dogs with their distinctive white coats that don’t shed were bred to hunt rodents in the court of James IV of Scotland who reigned between 1567 and 1625.
They seem well suited to hiking around Sun Valley, their owners say.
Those attending should bring a dish to share, along with their own utensils, plates and drink. Non-Westie dogs should be left at home for a nice snooze as this is a special occasion meant just for Westies.
