An aerial display will have skiers flying high when Sun Valley Resort hosts the Sun Valley Freestyle Spectacular today and Sunday, Jan. 25-26.
Eighty-eight athletes representing the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Freestyle team and skiers from programs in Idaho, Utah, Montana and Colorado will compete on moguls and jumps that have been built on Roundhouse Slope beneath the Roundhouse Restaurant on Bald Mountain.
“There are athletes registered who just returned from Junior World Championships and a few international and ex-World Cup skiers attending who compete at the higher level—it should be a pretty good show!” said John Grigsby, SVSEF Freestyle Program director.
Spectators who are not skiing can reach the venue by foot from the top of the gondola at River Run. Foot traffic lift tickets are available at the River Run ticket counter.
The first Moguls Run will be held from 10:30 to 12:45 p.m. today. The second Moguls Run will be held from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 3:45 p.m. in the Finish Area.
The first Moguls Run on Sunday will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Duals from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 4 p.m.
