The electronic music guys from South Africa are back chasing the snow as they play ski resorts across North America. And on Saturday, GoldFish will return to The Argyros in Ketchum for the third time.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and concertgoers are invited to dress in their favorite disco-ski couture for Goldfish Disco reworks, Nu Disco, Disco classics and instrumental jams. Tickets are available at https://www.theargyros.org/calendar/discofish-snow-tour.
David Poole and Dominic Peters, who recently moved from Cape Town to San Diego to concentrate on the American market, are known for their unique blend of uplifting, pulsating feel-good electronic music, African rhythms, funk and jazz. And they always make time for their favorite ski resorts, including Sun Valley and Telluride.
In fact, they love Sun Valley so much they will be spending a few extra days here enjoying the mountain and scarfing burgers at Apple’s and Grumpy’s.
“The energy, the mountains—it’s one of those places that you can’t help having fun on the slopes and at night around town,” said Poole. “We had to return a third time to get our Idaho fix!”
“The altitude gets you at first, but the crowd brings so much energy that you forget about it pretty quickly. Sun Valley is definitely one of those spots that lures you back again,” added Peters.
Hopefully, the duo won’t leave all their energy on the slopes, as they’re all about live performances, improvising and jamming on saxophones, flute, double bass and keyboards. Like snowflakes, no two shows are alike.
“It’s a dance party but with that organic, human element,” said Poole.
“Imagine if an island sunset, a jazz club and a deep house groove had a baby—that’s GoldFish,” said Peters
Poole said that GoldFish is always experimenting with new instruments and fresh collaborations. They are debuting a glitter-infused DiscoFish set on this show, which blends the best of GoldFish and Disco into one glorious sound.
“We’ve also been returning to our Afro-house roots from South Africa. So, the audience can expect some surprises,” added Peters.
