STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK Get ready for a Norman Rockwell scene on ice when Sun Valley Resort stages its annual Christmas Eve Ice Show tonight. The Sun Valley Carolers will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. with Christmas carols and the familiar “Sun Valley Serenade,” which some of the carolers have been singing for nearly years. The ice show will follow and it will be capped by fireworks and nearly 200 ski instructors lighting up the night with a Torchlight Parade.

As always, Sun Valley will serve complimentary cookies and cocoa on the Lodge Terrace. Bleachers open up at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the skiing was good on Bald Mountain Tuesday where morning conditions were on the soft side, even at the bottom of the mountain. The resort has opened up 12 new trails in the past three days, giving skiers and boarders plenty of groomers and off-piste runs to choose from. And, fingers crossed, the resort will get more snow as the temperatures dip below the unseasonably warm temperatures that have been inundating the West.
