Jewish people have had a big hand in shaping the Wood River Valley since the 1800s when members of the Friedman family, who donated land for Hailey’s airport, arrived and opened shops, with one even serving as Hailey’s mayor.
There continues to be a strong Jewish presence, with many Jews leading philanthropic and other efforts. And the Wood River Jewish Community is nearly done with a new synagogue—one of just a few in Idaho.
