Bridget Posson, development supervisor for The Hunger Coalition, said organizers are excited about building on the spirit of last year’s MoleFest and bringing people together around another beloved dish.
“At FoodFest, we'll taste through Tacos de Birria, Tacos de Lengua, Tacos de Res, Tacos de Bistec and Tacos Vegetarianos,” said Jenni Rangel, participant resource supervisor for the Hunger Coalition. “We can't wait to celebrate the culture, tradition, and flavors of this dish.
Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children under 18. The ticket will include a tasting of four tacos with rice, beans, salad, pastries and non-alcoholic drinks.
Judges, who include last year’s MoleFest Champion Maria Hernandez, will determine the best tacos based on appearance, execution and overall taste. Guests can vote for Community Favorite.
Tickets may be purchased online at https://thehungercoalition5b.harnessgiving.org/events/410 or at the event. Tickets must be shown to get a food ticket. for a taco flight.
The event dovetails with the mission of Bloom Community Food Center to bring people together around food and celebrate culture said Kristin McMahon, communications manager for The Hunger Coalition. The Bloom Garden in Quigley Canyon was discontinued this year as building in the canyon ramps up but more attention is being given to the greenhouses and the community kitchen on the Bloom Community campus.
