Resilience and human connection after losing everything to wildfire—that’s the story of “Rebuilding.”

The Sun Valley Film Festival will screen the film at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at The Argyros as part of its Monthly Movie Series.

The story of the American West from Max Walker-Silverman follows a divorced father who tries to rebuild his life in a trailer community on a FEMA-run campsite after his beloved ranch burns in a devasting wildfire. He finds solace with his new neighbors, who also have lost everything, and starts reconnecting with his ex-wife Ruby and young daughter.

The movie, called “the movie people need right now” by Indiewire, is filmed against the rapturous backdrop of southern Colorado. Financial Times called it “a country ballad in movie form.” And Deadline said it “gives us faith and hope for the human race.”

It features Josh O’Connor as Dusty, alongside Lily Latorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis and Amy Madigan.

Tickets for the 95-minute film which premiered at the 202 Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled to be released in theaters later this year, are available at https://www.theargyros.org/calendar/svff-monthly-movie-rebuilding.

The movie screens just ahead of the Sun Valley Film Festival, which will be held Dec. 3-7 this year.
