Chocolate—one of the most popular elixirs in the world—will reign supreme this coming Thursday when the Rotary Club of Twin Falls holds its 19th Annual Death by Chocolate.
Chefs from Blue Lakes Country Club, St. Luke’s Magic Valley, Hilton Garden Inn and a variety of other businesses will serve up chocolate concoctions as they vie for Best in Show from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Canyon Crest Event Center, 330 Canyon Crest Drive off Pole Line Road.
And attendees get to sample them all with the $20 admission fee going to local charities and Rotary Club service projects, such as buying books for second graders and the Boys and Girls Club Library.
Past contestants have crafted such delicacies as cholate truffle cake, cherry chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake with raspberry ganache, grasshopper cheesecake and even a matcha chocolate cookie utilizing a purple yam grown in the Philippines.
“The best chocolate to enjoy. All in one room!” said Kevin Bradshaw, president of the Rotary Club of Twin Falls.
Chocolate creators will compete in five categories: Brownie, Cake, Candy, Cookie and Unique Dessert. Both attendees and judges will vote for their favorites in each category.
The duo Crazy Love featuring Bruce Michael Miller and Heather Platts will provide live music; there also will be a silent auction and raffle.
Chocolate participants include Vonnie’s Crafty Treats, Erin’s Sweet Creations, Sweet Bites Idaho, Sweet Cravings, Rolling Pin Bakery, Blue Lakes Country Club, Sweet Tooth Bakery, Craft & Crust, Daisy’s, Weiser Classic Candy, CSI Baking & Pastry, Alice’s Sweets, Jaker’s Bar and Grill, Carla’s Creations, Stonehouse, St. Luke’s Magic Valley, Hilton Garden Inn, CIS-Culinary, Stella’s Ice Cream, Slices Cheesecake, Kevs Creations LLC and Twin Falls High School
Complimentary water will be provided by Giltner, and Moxie Java will provide coffee. There will be a no-host bar.
Mid-Columbia Bus Company will provide a shuttle to Canyon Crest from the remote parking at St. Luke’s Neurology Building.
Admission is $20 for tickets sold online at www.twinfallsrotary.org. It’s $25 at the door.
