BY KAREN BOSSICK The Sun Valley Writers’ Conference, which runs Saturday through Monday, Jully 18-20, at Sun Valley Resort, is offering three options for viewing this year’s speakers, including Ken Burns and Doris Kearns Goodwin, free of charge. Additionally, it’s bringing back its Live Watch Party at The Argyros for those who want to duck out of the heat. And it’s also offering a free screening of Amy Bowers Cordalis’ “Undammed: Saving the Klamath River and an Indigenous Way of Life,” a documentary about breaching the Klamath Dam. The hour-long screening will start at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 20, at the Sun Valley Opera House.

(Complimentary access is available for a limited number of students, librarians and educators). But the general public can watch Pavilion talks via the Jumbotrons on the Pavilion Lawn free of charge. LIVE WATCH PARTY-- Back for its third year, the Live Watch Party at the Argyros includes surprise guest appearances and live music. "The Argyros Theatre's incredible visual and audio capabilities make it far easier to see and hear the presenters," wrote one attendee. FREE DIGITAL MEDIA LIBRARY--The Sun Valley Writers’ Conference’s online media library features hundreds of free videos, audio recordings, podcasts and interviews from past Conferences. Learn more at https://svwc.com/media. COMMUNITY TALKS--The Writers’ Conference is also presenting two free public authors’ talks in partnership with The Community Library. Tickets for both Julian Brave NoiseCat and Virginia Evans were snapped up in early May. But a recording of Noisecat, author of “We Survived the Night” and Oscar nominee for his documentary “Sugarcane,” will be available for two weeks following his July 15 talk on The Community Library’s Event Archive at https://vimeo.com/showcase/tcl-archive. Virginia Evans’ livestream about her New York Times bestseller “The Correspondent” can be watched at https://vimeo.com/event/5945920 as she gives the talk at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21. But a recording will not be made available at the author’s request.
The Writers’ Conference also offers a School Speaker Series, Next Chapter reading program, Narrative 4 workshops, StoryCon/ Student/Author Luncheon, Writing Fellows Program in partnership with local schools and libraries.
