We normally think of beavers as submersible creatures happy to take refugee from the world in the ponds and beaver lodges they create. But in the late 1940s Idaho beavers became airborne as Idaho Fish and Game Department removed them from urban areas where they were believed to be creating problems and parachuting them into what is now the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
