The Space is holding a Scholar’s Garden brunch to honor those impacted by the work of the afterschool tutoring program in Hailey.

There’ll be mimosas and savory bites and the opportunity to learn more about the program from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Valley Club north of Hailey.

Guests are invited to share their stories about a teacher who had an impact on them, a moment of discovery that changed their perspective or an experience that fueled their passion for learning.

The Space is not sitting idle during the summer. More than 50 students kicked off the summer exploring concepts under the theme of hot air balloons. Other themes will be explored throughout the summer through the lens of STEAM activities, cooking, math activities and games, creative writing, fabric arts and storytelling.

The Space also offers a Dungeons & Dragons Club, Field Trip Fridays, Bilingual Scholars and opportunities to prepare for the digital SAT test or college application essays.

“This past year, thanks to our generous community, we have been able to expand our team and programming to allow for over 220 students to engage in a journey of transformation as they gain confidence in navigating their education,” said Aaron Bronson, executive director of The Space. “Additionally, we added Wednesday Enrichment for middle school students in response to the school district's new early release schedule. Through this additional program we increased our middle school student engagement by 124%. Any middle school student was able to participate in Wednesday Enrichment, allowing them to join the team at The Space on field trips to various locations around the community to participate in art, exploration of nature, and physical activity.”

The Space also added a drop-in program that allows for any high school or middle school student to come into the office afterschool or evening to work on assignments and prepare for tests with a team of tutors available for support, said Bronson.

“With the drop-in program, students don't have to schedule ahead, and instead can show up when it is best for them,” she added. “This allows flexibility with their other responsibilities. In this new program we had 91 students participate regularly and demonstrate increased independence in their learning.”

Tickets for the Scholar’s Garden are $75, available at https://spaceidaho-bloom.kindful.com/e/scholars-garden.
