Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, author of “Eat Your Ice Cream: Six Simple Rules for a Long and Healthy Life.” will headline St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation’s annual Health & Well-Being Speaker Series this summer.

Emanuel, a nationally recognized physician, bioethicist and health policy expert, will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum. Free tickets are available at https://www.slwrf.org/ezekiel-emanuel/

Emanuel serves as vice provost for global initiatives and the Diane v. S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He also advises the director general of the World Health Organization.

His new book is a practical non-nonsense guide that maximizes health benefits with minimal fuss so the path to longevity doesn’t feel like a parttime job. The reference to ice cream, for instance, involves consuming healthy balanced meals but not torturing yourself or eliminate all simple pleasures.

Emanuel challenges audiences to reconsider common assumptions about aging, productivity and what it means to live well. Hie offers actionable ideas to achieve purpose, meaningful relationships and intentional daily choices in shaping both individual well-being and healthier communities.

“The Health & Well-being Speaker Series continues to bring forward voices that help our community think differently about health and the way we live,” said Megan Tanous, chief development officer for the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation. “Dr. Emanuel’s perspective on purpose, longevity and living well will resonate with many and spark meaningful conversation.”

The Health & Well-being Speaker Series is made possible through generous community philanthropy so that it can be offered free to the public.
